Consat Telematics announces strategic partnership with Applied Autonomy to shape the future of public transportation

Göteborg, Sweden / Oslo, Norway – December 4, 2025 – Consat Telematics announces strategic partnership with Applied Autonomy to shape the future of public transportation

Consat Telematics is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with Applied Autonomy, a leading Norwegian company specialising in orchestration systems for autonomous vehicle fleets. The collaboration strengthens Consat’s long-term strategy: to show the market that we are not only delivering high-performing solutions today, but are also actively preparing for the technologies, business models and operational needs that will shape public transportation in the future.

The partnership is further reinforced by a minority investment from Consat Telematics - a clear signal of our commitment to accelerate innovation and future-proof our roadmap.

Preparing for the next decade of public transport

Across Europe and globally, public transportation operators face rising operational costs and an increasing shortage of bus drivers. With these shortages growing across the industry, autonomous buses will increasingly complement traditional fleets, bridging operational gaps and expanding the reach of public transport – including first- and last-mile mobility solutions.

Several operators we work with have already signaled that autonomous buses will become a meaningful part of their long-term fleet planning.

While many companies focus on the autonomous driving technology itself, very few are capable of managing autonomous fleets at scale. Applied Autonomy is one of those few. Their system provides an overarching platform that supervises and coordinates autonomous buses - much like what Consat Telematics does today for conventional fleets. For decades, it has been Consat’s strength to help operators manage complex and mixed fleets. Autonomous operations introduce additional requirements, but the need for integrated systems remains essential. For many years ahead, operators will rely on mixed fleets – and our combined capabilities ensure that these can be managed seamlessly in one environment. Together, these capabilities create a strong, complementary match.

Accelerating innovation and entering new markets

The partnership enables both companies to strengthen and align their future roadmaps. For Consat Telematics, it expands our ability to support customers as autonomous operations grow. For Applied Autonomy, it offers access to Consats deep expertise as a leader in global public transportation systems and a path to reach broader international markets.

The collaboration also opens doors to markets where autonomous operations are progressing rapidly, such as the Netherlands and Norway, and positions our solutions for new segments like airport mobility, campus shuttles while further strengthening our capabilities in mixed-fleet operations

In addition to vehicles operating in live traffic, the partnership creates new opportunities within depot and yard management - an area where Consat Telematics already has a strong footprint, particularly with charging management. As autonomous operations expand, efficient coordination inside depots will become just as critical as fleet management on the road. By combining Applied Autonomy’s orchestration capabilities with our experience in depot operations, charging management and traffic planning, we create a powerful foundation for our future yard-management solutions. This enables us to accelerate innovation in an essential area for scalable autonomous fleets while also strengthening our existing depot offering.

“With this partnership, we demonstrate that Consat Telematics is not only strong in what we deliver today - we are also actively involved in shaping what comes next. Applied Autonomy’s deep expertise in autonomous fleet orchestration complements our own strengths in intelligent transport systems. Together, we can help our customers bridge the growing driver shortage, prepare for mixed fleets and open the door to new markets where autonomous operations are already accelerating. Our investment signals that we are serious about strategic partnerships that strengthen our roadmap and expand the value we deliver to customers.”
Fredrik Östbye, Chairman of the Board, Consat Telematics
